CNDLS provides workshops and resources on teaching for graduate students and faculty, and has worked in conjunction with several departments on the main and medical campuses to offer seminars on teaching and learning for graduate students. CNDLS provides additional resources and expertise in activities related to teaching and learning, drawing upon development efforts at Georgetown and at many other colleges and universities. As in our faculty programs, CNDLS emphasizes professional preparation for graduate students as teachers along with their professional preparation as researchers.

CNDLS offers a number of teaching and learning opportunities directed at graduate students that include:

  • Workshops on teaching in college classrooms, including a systematic program on essential teaching knowledge that culminates in a notation on participants' official academic transcript (the Apprenticeship in Teaching program).
  • Consultations for graduate students serving as instructors and TAs who wish to improve their teaching.
  • A semester-long assistantship for a graduate student dedicated to the scholarship of teaching and learning.

In addition, CNDLS has a myriad of print and electronic resources on teaching for graduate students. Please contact CNDLS if you need support in your own teaching practice, or are interested in professional development through our Apprenticeship in Teaching Program.
