SCOLA (Satellite Communications for Learning) is a non-profit educational organization that transmits foreign language news and educational programming from around the world.
As an affiliate, the LLT Center provides Georgetown FLL faculty and students access to SCOLA's live video streams of four 24/7 foreign language television channels and to a rolling 7-day archive of downloadable news programs.
Our subscription also includes access to SCOLA's Insta-Class service, which features transcripts of selected newscasts in the original language with English translations supplemented by vocabulary, quizzes, grammar exercises and/or topics for discussion.
This service is freely available to Georgetown University faculty and students. To access SCOLA on-line materials, go to http://www.scola.org. You will be required to log in using a username and password.
If you are an instructor and would like to use SCOLA materials for your course, please contact Susan Pennestri to receive login credentials. If you are a student, please ask your instructor for the information or go to the Language Lab (ICC 224).
This service is licensed to Georgetown University faculty, staff and students. Login credentials may not be distributed and may only be used by users affiliated with Georgetown University.
